3D print finishes

We offer 3 different 3D printing techniques: FDM, SLA/DLP and SLS.

These can each be finished in different ways. Below you will find which finishes are available for which techniques.

Would you like more information about the different techniques? Be sure to take a look this handy overview where you can clearly see the difference.

If you can't figure it out yourself, no problem! We are happy to help you. Feel free to contact us through this form on our contact page..

FDM

Standard finish

The support material needed during production and printing is removed. The layer lines will remain visible and minor marks may remain at the point of contact with the support material. You can select the layer thickness when ordering. You can choose from 0.05, 0.10, 0.14, 0.19 or 0.25mm

Spray paint finish

Your printed model is sprayed with several coats of paint. We ensure good coverage and a uniform color. You can choose from a metal look (bronze, silver or gold) and a whole selection of RAL colours. If you have a specific RAL color in mind, you can specify it during the order. A price is calculated based on the surface of your piece with a minimum of €15 for this coating.

SLA/DLP

Standard finish

We remove the backing material and do a final curing of the piece under UV light and heat. Small marks of the support may remain visible.
The layer lines are almost invisible with this technology. You can choose between 0.1 or 0.05mm.

Transparent finish

When selecting the material "clear resin" you have the choice to have it made transparent. The piece is finished as usual, then sandblasted and finally given a number of coats of transparent lacquer.
The effect is, as you can see, a slightly yellowish piece. It is transparent up to a certain distance, from further on it remains transparent.
This finish will cost you €20 or more for a larger surface. The cost is displayed like all others when ordering via the platform.

SLS

Standard finish

Loose powder is removed from the piece and then we sandblast your object. The 3D print receives a mechanical after-treatment. The surface is "smooth to the touch".

Food-safe impregnation

After the standard finish, the 3D print is immersed in a fine liquid in a vacuum chamber. Once the air enters the vacuum chamber again, the liquid is forced into the surface.
The result is a closed surface so that air and liquids no longer affect it. The liquid is safe for food and drinking water contact. The coating is also resistant to chemical products.

Smooth finish

Loose powder is removed from the part and then we sandblast the part. The 3D print receives a slightly aggressive mechanical after-treatment. The surface is aesthetically more beautiful and smoother than the standard finish. Sharp corners may be slightly rounded.

Polish finish

Loose powder is removed from the part and then we sandblast the part. The 3D print receives an extra long, slightly aggressive mechanical after-treatment. The surface is completely smooth and slightly shiny. Sharp corners may be slightly rounded.
After this treatment, the surface is smooth enough to paint without visible structure of the 3D print.

Spray paint finish

Your printed model is sprayed with several coats of paint. We ensure good coverage and a uniform color.
You can choose from a metal look (bronze, silver and gold) and a whole selection of RAL colours. If you have a specific RAL color in mind, you can specify it during the order. A price is calculated based on the surface of your piece with a minimum of €15 for this coating.

Color bath finish

Your model is submerged in a bath of dye. This ensures a coloration that is incorporated into the print itself up to a few millimeters below the surface. This finish is available in black and blue. Other colors are available on request. The price calculation for this finish depends on the surface of your piece with a minimum price of €7.
