In this project, conventionally milled robot grippers were replaced by 3D-printed versions. It does without saying that these claws have to withstand a lot of forces. A print was chosen from a combination of 3D-composite prints with a continuous carbon fibre thread throughout the print. The claws can withstand exactly the same forces as the earlier milled aluminium parts, and this at a fraction of the cost.
Up to now, the tooling for the positioning of mounted parts, or a fixture for measuring a manufactured part was always produced by milling. These milled parts have now been replaced by a composite printed version. These parts are not subjected to the greatest forces, so a plastic solution can serve perfectly. These parts are also produced at a fraction of the cost.
